Breaking News: Construction worker loses fight for life

A CONSTRUCTION worker has died after suffering serious injuries in an accident on the Stratford City shopping centre site.
Shaun Scurry, 39, died at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel after battling for his life for a week, following the tragic accident on the Temple Mill Lane building site last Wednesday (9/12), writes LEE PEART.
A spokesman for Shaun's employer, Firesafe Installations, said: "Firesafe Installations and all Shaun's colleagues were shocked by the accident and injuries he sustained when working on the site and are now deeply saddened to learn of his subsequent death.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
Shaun suffered fatal injuries when he was trapped between a steal beam and an industrial lift at the site, which is owned multinational shopping centre developer Westfield.
The cause of the accident, which is being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive, has not been established.
Shaun had been working on a scissor lift installing lagging to ductwork at a low height when the incident took place.
The young father, who lived in Kirkby, Liverpool, leaves two sons, aged 22 and three, and a fiancée.
