Six jailed for cash robberies

25 July 2010
A SIX strong robbery gang that included two men from Newham were yesterday jailed for a total of almost 16 years, with a 16-year-old receiving two years detention, for their roles in two cash-in-transit raids last August.

The robberies took place in north-east London.

Stolen dye-stained cash found on Marley Matumona, 28, from Plaistow, linked him to both robberies.

Further enquiries by officers identified Jahmal Banya, 20, from Stratford, as the sixth suspect.

All were convicted at Wood Green Crown Court

Matumonia, of New Barn Street was sentenced to four years for conspiracy to commit the two robberies.

Banya, of Victoria Street, got three years and eight months for the same conspiracies.
