Breaking news: Newham College axes construction department

27 July 2010
NEWHAM College has announced it is scrapping its construction department in a shock move.

Kausar Malik, executive faculty director of technology, said that funding changes were behind the decision.

Another factor was the introduction of a work-based curriculum for construction students in recent years.

Mr Malik said: "With regret and great sadness Newham College is closing down the construction area for enrolment from September 2010.

"The college is committed to doing its best for all its learners and alternative courses will be offered to students where this is possible.
