It's the Bollywood Factor!

31 March 2010
AN X Factor-style talent show is being launched to discover and launch the career of the UK's next Bollywood star.

Honey's Dance Academy, the UK's top Bollywood dance school, and Desitara.com - a top talent portal - have teamed up to hold the Bollywood Dance Championships 2010.

Hopefuls will need to audition on Saturday, April 17 at St Giles Hotel, central London.

The keen eyes of an esteemed panel of judges will be searching out new dance talents who possess the passion, drive and determination to make it as a top Bollywood star.

Those who get through the auditions will enter heats in May.

There are four age categories. Four to seven years; eight-12; 13-17; and 18 and over.

The lucky overall winner may be a group or solo performer and will be mentored by Honey for worldwide projects from September through to December this year.

Honey, who lives in Gants Hill and whose dance academy runs classes in Ilford, Seven Kings and Upton Park, says her dance students have featured in major film, TV and stage roles such as Harry Potter, Bombay Dreams and blockbuster Bollywood movies such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, as well as Gurinder Chadha's forthcoming film, It's a Wonderful Afterlife.

She said: "As Bollywood is an amalgamation of all dance styles, the idea is to encourage people from all dance genres and cultural backgrounds to participate and compete - Indian classical to bhangra, salsa to belly dancing right through to hip-hop and street.

"My work is to build East West relations and this is a great way to get people to experience the glitz and glamour of Bollywood, whilst offering an opportunity to help maximise an individual's true potential. "

Dance hopefuls interested in auditioning must register by calling 020 8590 8050 or by visiting www.desitara.com/honeysdanceacademy.com
